You can always go back.

A document’s history scrolls with a slider. What you remove goes to the trash, and from there you take it back.

In detail

  • The time machine.

Scroll a document’s history: the text takes itself apart and puts itself back together before your eyes. Every step says who wrote.

  • Restore here, as an edit.

Restore here writes the content of that moment into the live document as an ordinary edit: others see it, it can be undone, and access rules can refuse it.

  • The guard holds for the past too.

If the page as it was has parts the editor does not know, Restore here is not offered: it would delete them for everyone.

  • The trash.

Move to the trash takes it out of view; Trash collects what you removed, and it can be brought back. Even a Pan memory goes to the trash and can be taken back.

How to use it

Four moves, to go back.

  1. Open the history.

From the document: the history with its moments and who wrote each.

  2. Scroll.

The slider takes you to yesterday, this morning, now.

  3. Restore here.

The text of that moment returns to the document, as an edit.

  4. Restore from the trash.

Trash: choose what to bring back.

Examples

Made-up people and data.

  1. Marta, Mirto Labs

    A paragraph that is gone.

A colleague deletes a paragraph by mistake. Marta scrolls the history back to yesterday and presses Restore here: the text returns as an edit, and the others see it.

  2. Luca, Mirto Labs

    Who wrote what.

Scrolling the history, each step says who wrote. Luca finds where a sentence comes from.

  3. Anna, Mirto Labs

    A page in the trash.

Anna removed a page too soon. From the Trash she brings it back where it was.

Frequently asked questions

Is history lost if I restore an old version?

No: the restore is an edit like the others, so the history stays.

How much history is kept?

One step per save, with a cap per page, and at most a thousand steps are read at a time.

Who can rewind?

Whoever can read the page sees the history; restoring needs edit access.

Is anything ever really deleted?

What you remove goes to the trash. A Communication post is not deleted: it is discarded. An outside assistant deletes nothing.

Let’s see it together.

We show it to you live.
