Pick the model.

You pick the model, among all those of your provider, and change it whenever you want: a fast one for a touch-up, one that reasons at length for a hard problem. New ones show up on their own.

The steps

The same piece in every place where a model is picked: Pan’s key, Search, the code team.

  1. Open the model picker.

In Pan’s key (Settings, Account, Pan), in Search or in The code team: a box that opens under the field.

  2. Search by name.

The field searches at the start of words: type part of the name and the list narrows.

  3. Look at the three lists.

Recommended, Always the latest and All. In Always the latest are OpenRouter’s names that follow the newest version on their own.

  4. Choose.

Each row has the price, and “new” where the provider has just added it. A model that does not use tools, or cannot look where it needs to, is not saved.

  5. Change per task.

Pan, Search and each agent of the code team have their own model: you can pick the best for each.

Things to know

  • The list is the provider’s.

It is what the provider gives to whoever has the key, and it is re-read every hour. A page left open re-reads it when you reopen it, at most once a minute.

  • At most a hundred rows.

The list shows at most a hundred: use search for the rest.

  • The bill is the provider’s.

The box shows the price, but the provider bills on your key. Your cap is per person.

  • An “always the latest” name changes by itself.

When a new version comes out, the name points to it: you do not choose again, and you can go back to a specific model whenever you want.

Frequently asked questions

Does a model that has just come out show right away?

It shows when the provider gives it to whoever has the key: the list is re-read every hour.

What does “Always the latest” mean?

A name that follows the newest version of that model on its own: when a new one comes out, it points to it.

Can I pick a different model for each task?

Yes: Pan, Search and each agent of the code team have their own.

Which providers can I use?

OpenRouter, EUrouter, OpenAI, Anthropic, Google and DeepSeek. Pan works out the provider from the key you paste.
